The front cover for my preliminary task has the title of the magazine at the top of the page in the centre in large, bold blue font which catches the readers attention so they know the name of the magazine. The issue number and date of the magazine are in the top right corner, this is also written in the same blue font at the magazine title but in a smaller size. There is a mediun close up photo of Shaun in the middle of the page which is the first thing that draws the readers attention when they look at the cover. This photo links to the main coverline which is towards the top of the of page in the center just above the photo, I decided to do this in a green text as it links to what has been written in the coverline 'Shaun Casey, the new green giant', I also decided to use the green text as it helps it stand out from the other coverlines which are less important. I decided to place these other coverlines at either side of the photo as it helps to fill in the space and makes the main coverline stand out even more as it is on its own. I also chose to write these other coverlines in a red text in a smaller font which helps to show that they are the less important than the main coverline.
My preliminary front cover is aimed at an audience of students from the Vale between the age of 12-17. I think that I achieved this by using coverlines which are related to the school and which might interest people of that age.The colours are bold and eye catching and may also help to get the attention of the target audience.
Good. You need to analyse this though. Make sure you comment on the decisions you made and how you targeted a specific audience.
